Rewards & Sanctions
The school ethos of encouragement is central to the promotion of desirable behaviour. Rewards are an integral part of achieving this. Phoenix operates a formal system of recognition as part of a wide range of whole school rewards. It is based around the 4 A's
Achievement: Doing well in your lessons, homework or examinations.
Appearance: Being smart and in the correct uniform each day.
Attendance: Aiming to be here every day. We reward when pupils exceed our minimum target of 95%.
Attitude: Trying your best in lessons. Good manners, courtesy and getting involved in extra-curricular activities.
We use a reward points system at the school and will award on the balance of positive and negative points at the end of the year. There are also weekly attendance prizes and prizes for each term for students as well as the rewards trips in July.

Positive behaviour is an essential foundation for a creative and effective learning and teaching environment in which all members of the school community can thrive and feel respected, safe and secure. Our rewards system demonstrates we have a range of effective practices and strategies to promote positive behaviour.
However, pupils should expect any poor behaviour to be sanctioned in a consistent way. The main way in which we can ensure that actions are used to promote improvement in behaviour and to support learning is via our Consequence System shown here.
