Online Safety for Students/Parents and Carers
Welcome to the Phoenix Online Safety page where we have showcased what we do in school to keep students and parents/carers safe online.
Online Safety Student Group
At Phoenix, we have a team of dedicated students who are the online safety ambassadors. It is their job to work with the Online safety staff team and promote staying safe online around the school to students, parents and the community.
Roles and Responsibilities
- to be trained as E-Safety Ambassadors
- to plan online safety events for the students, parents/carers and the local community
- to assist the E-Safety lead with planning whole school competitions
- to discuss matters relating to online safety and to update teaching and learning materials
- to keep up to date with online safety rules and regulations and policies
- to take part in national initiatives such as Internet Safety Week and Anti Bullying Week

Parents' Evenings | House Competitions |
Our online safety ambassadors attended parents' evenings and spoke to parents/carers about staying safe online. | Students have taken part in house competitions to design a leaflet informing parents of the importance of the 3 C's, Content, Contact and Consent. |

Presentations to Parents/Carers and Students | Newsletters |
On Parents' Evenings and events such as Safer Internet Day, the E-Safety Coordinator delivers a top tips session to parents/carers and students with all the up to date knowledge on online safety. | Students were given an opportunity to design a leaflet about Internet Safety to give to parents/carers. The online safety ambassadors then judged the newsletters and chose the winning design which was printed and handed to parents/carers on Parents' Evenings. |

E-Smart Training for Students, Parents/Carer and Governors | Top Tips |
Students, Parents/Carers and Governors have the opportunity to upskill and expand their capabilities in online safety. On completion of the training all users receive a certificate of achievement. | Top tips for parents/carers and advice on where to go for further support in the school. Also includes age restrictions for apps and online gaming. |

Cyber Christmas Competition |
Safer Internet Competition |
Students took part in a Cyber Christmas Card Competition where they were asked to design a Christmas Card online. The card was judged by our Social Media Ambassadors. The winner for this competition was Grace Leadbeater! |
As part of Safer Internet Day, students were invited to take part in a competition where they were asked to design an awareness poster exploring the reliability in the online world #aninternetwetrust. The winner for this competition was Alfie Booton ! |
Next Steps
The online safety group will be working to promote strategies for staying safe online to members of the local community in partnership with the Business department.
CEOP #OnlineSafetyAtHome
CEOP have produced a package to support children and their families over the coming weeks and months #OnlineSafetyAtHome. The package contains simple 15-minute activities that parents can do at home with their child using our Thinkuknow resources. Please click the image below to access these online.
Phoenix Collegiate, whilst recognising the value of electronic and online learning, is committed to ensuring the online safety of its students. To assist parents in what can be a worrying minefield of technology and jargon, we are making available the latest publications from Childnet which has recently been translated into eleven additional languages.
