Teacher of Geography Maternity Cover 0.8FTE
Required from February 2020
Phoenix is a multi-cultural 11-19 secondary school, serving 1900 students in the north of West Bromwich close to the border with Walsall in the West Midlands. Opened in September 2010, as a result of the merger of two local schools, Phoenix has established itself as one of the highest performing schools in the area, an accolade achieved through commitment to continually improving the quality of teaching and learning and the provision of an exciting and dynamic learning experience for students. Our sixth form of around 250 students offers a broad array of L3 academic and vocational qualifications.
Over recent years examination results have been improving rapidly and this year’s early un-validated progress measure is +0.09 (FFT). Phoenix is a school that aspires to turn every child’s dream into reality; believes that there is no limit to what can be achieved and succeeds through passion, commitment and determination.
We are seeking a Teacher of Geography for a maternity cover post starting February 2020. This post is four days per week (Monday to Thursday) and it is expected to be an 8/9 month fixed term contract in the first instance. You will have a confident understanding of the curriculum and the ability to inspire excellent learning.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher to develop their passion for learning and create a positive and inspiring learning environment for our students. This will suit a teacher who has a proven track record of results and looking for a new challenge in a successful Geography department. As a school we have a fabulous CPD offer to support colleagues at whatever point in their career they are from our ITT to our senior leaders.
Phoenix is one of only a few schools nationally to benefit from the government’s priority schools building programme and our state of the art facilities are second to none.
The students and staff at Phoenix face an exciting future. If you would like to be part of a school that is committed to becoming the very best, and if you can inspire and motivate our students, you could be the person for this role.
