Support and Financial Assistance
16-19 Bursary Fund
Phoenix also offers the 16-19 Bursary Fund, a scheme to help young people facing financial hardship stay on in full time education after Year 11. There are limited funds allocated to the school by the Education Funding Agency (EFA). The Bursary Fund is a discretionary grant with criteria set by the school and linked to attendance, behaviour and progress. There are conditions and a range of categories and students will be issued with a form in September of the academic year to complete to check eligibility.

The George and Thomas Henry Salter Trust student education grant
The George and Thomas Henry Salter Trust is a charitable organisation aimed at supporting individuals and organisations that require financial support.
The trust provides educational grants to young people from the local area to support them in higher education. Once you have acquired your university place then you can obtain an application from Phoenix Sixth form that will aid you in applying for a grant up to £350 to support you with your studies which you can submit as soon as you have enrolled.
The application is straight forward and just requires some basic information about yourself and your career aspirations. The Trustees will only consider applications from students once they have enrolled at the higher education institution. They will require evidence of your enrolment and attendance. A link to the website and application form can be located below.
16-19 Tuition Fund
The Department for Education has announced funding to support the provision of students disrupted by the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19). This 16-19 Tuition Fund is a ring-fenced funding opportunity, to prioritise support for the learning of students, who were significantly disadvantaged by the pandemic and as a result were unable to achieve at least a grade 4 in English and/or Mathematics. Phoenix support students with dedicated small group or one-to-one support through dedicated teachers and Mytutor, an online dedicated tuition service.
