Beech House
Beech House
Head of House – Miss L Hancocks
Pastoral Manager – Miss J Powell
The House Team are committed to ensuring that your child receives the best pastoral and academic support throughout their time at Phoenix. Beech House is also extremely lucky to be supported by a dedicated and caring team of tutors who ensure that every child receives the support and guidance they need to thrive.
In Beech House we are passionate about helping our students to develop into young adults with the skills needed to succeed in whatever path they choose. We do this through our motto ‘Triumph through endeavour’; encouraging every student to be the very best they can be, developing their individual talents, achieved through a strong emphasis on mutual respect for each other and a calm and caring environment.
As your child progresses through our school, they will have opportunities to develop the leadership skills required to support other students, helping them feel part of our inclusive community.
All of our pupils have the opportunity to participate in a range of extra-curricular activities from music and the performing arts, sports to languages. Whatever your child’s skills, talents or interests there are chances for them to shine and develop. Determination and resilience are essential for your child’s success and these activities provide the arena for our students to grow in a safe and fun environment.
Beech holds high standards around participation and effort and we look forward to helping your child to expand their horizons. The Inter-House Cup is closely fought between the seven Houses and will encompass various challenges throughout the academic year.
Finally, as a house we place great value on the partnership between school and home in supporting our young people. We want you to feel confident that your child will receive the very best in academic and pastoral support from all staff and we work hard to make sure communication is as clear and complete as possible. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any issues, concerns or questions.

Juniper House
Juniper House
Head of House – Ms. Foster
Pastoral Managers – Mrs. Hubbard / Miss Grant
Aspiring to be the best you can, will only be achieved in Juniper House through the positive mindset of our dedicated House captains, form reps and subject ambassadors, to lead the way in encouraging aspiration, respect and endeavour amongst all members of the House around school, and represent Juniper with confidence and pride.
‘A hope or ambition to achieve something’ - in Juniper House, we strive to be the best that we can be, both as individuals and as a community - as our House slogan suggests ‘We Stand as One’. A community doesn’t just happen, and this is something that I want Juniper to lead the way with... in supporting one another around the school, in house events, celebrating our achievements and learning from our failures.

Oak House
Oak House
Head of House – Mr R Gibbs
Pastoral Manager – Mrs S Pearson
Oak house team prides themselves on community and we consistently reflect on questions such as “how can we develop ourselves further to support the community” and “what positive aspects can you personally contribute to the house and community”.
With a background in PE teaching, I see skills that are used in sport such as communication, teamwork, fair play and self-analysis as being essential for the day to day lives of pupils within the house.
In Oak House we look to support our local community in the charity work we do. Oak House collects donations for Smethwick foodbank three times a year. This is an important event that the house is proud to facilitate. This is only made possible through the excellent support from parents, pupils and staff.
