Deputy Head Teacher
Required from September 2020
Phoenix is a large multi-cultural 11-19 secondary school, serving almost 1900 students in the north of West Bromwich close to the border with Walsall in the West Midlands. Opened in September 2010, as a result of the merger of two local schools, Phoenix has established itself as one of the highest performing schools in the area, an accolade achieved through commitment to continually improving the quality of teaching and learning and the provision of an exciting and dynamic learning experience for students. Our sixth form of around 250 students offers a broad array of L3 academic and vocational qualifications.
Over recent years examination results have been improving rapidly and this year’s early un-validated progress measure is +0.09 (FFT). Phoenix is a school that aspires to turn every child’s dream into reality; believes that there is no limit to what can be achieved and succeeds through passion, commitment and determination.
Phoenix is one of only a few schools nationally to benefit from the government’s priority schools building programme and our state of the art facilities are second to none. In addition to these new facilities we are also looking to enhance our facilities further over the next couple of years with a sports hub and additional teaching spaces.
The school continues to grow in size and this, along with natural changes within the senior leadership team, means we are seeking to appoint two dynamic, committed and forward thinking practitioners as Deputy Head Teachers. As a school constantly focussed on improvement and with an ultimate goal of achieving outstanding status we are seeking two colleagues who have the drive, skills and attributes to add strength and breadth to our already strong team.
We want to appoint the very best candidates and therefore, whilst we are looking for candidates with the experience, skills and knowledge as defined in the personnel specification, we have chosen to recruit to generic DHT roles where lead roles can be discussed and agreed according to skill set and desired development routes for future progress.
The students and staff at Phoenix face an exciting future. If you would like to be part of a school that is committed to becoming the very best, and if you can inspire and motivate our students, you could be the person for this role.
