Over recent months IKEA Wednesbury have been working with students at Phoenix Collegiate undertaking various activities.
Enhancing teaching and learning within the Year 11 Business Studies curriculum area
As part of their GCSE qualifications in Applied Business over 45 Year 11 students have been provided with an opportunity to visit IKEA Wednesbury and use the business as a basis of investigation for their coursework.
Students visited the business on two occasions during November 2014 and were able to carry out an investigation of the company by listening to a presentation delivered by IKEA personnel. Students were provided with an excellent standard of hospitality during each visit and received a guided tour of the store.
Launching a competitive activity to ICT students
Students at Phoenix Collegiate have been provided with an opportunity to take part in a competition organised by IKEA Wednesbury.
The competition has involved students devising and creating new innovative methods of promoting IKEA’s ‘soft toy campaign’ to young people.
IKEA’s soft toy campaign is a good cause partnership between the IKEA Foundation charity, UNICEF and Save the Children and was first launched twelve years ago. For every Soft Toy or children’s book sold, the IKEA Foundation donates 1 Euro to children’s education projects.
Phoenix students are currently in the process of submitting entries for the competition with winners to be announced very shortly.
Phoenix Collegiate would like to thank Nuzhad Chagan and her colleagues at IKEA Wednesbury for providing these very valuable experiences to our students.
